Consider Our Climate Future
All new playground equipment needs to have a canopy. The climate will be hotter in the future and we need to plan accordingly.
Upgrades to parking lots and new parking lots need to have trees planted at regular intervals to reduce the heat island effect.
Encourage residents to install rain gardens to reduce risk of flooding and benefit pollinators and biodiversity.
Regulate the Impact of Large Buildings
Large buildings should be assessed for feasibility of solar panels. There are currently tax rebates for these and in some cases, grants as well.
New multi-family buildings should have electric charging options so residents will be able to charge electric vehicles.
Ban Single-Use Plastic Products
Ban plastic grocery bags.
Ban plastic straws.
Ban styrofoam to-go containers.
Ban plastic coffee lids.
These days, there is no reason we need to continue adding to the world's plastic pollution. All grocery bags, straws, lids, and to-go containers can be compostable at an affordable price. Let's ask ourselves what it's costing us, having these plastics in our environment.
